Everywhere you look people are saying Kenny Rogers is a cheater, but, even if that was pine tar or somethin, how would he still pitch 7 scoreless innings after he washed it off?

He cheated, but every pitcher has tried that at one time or another. He just got caught because of the HD TVs. And he's an idiot for not concealing it better.

Kenny should put the pine tar on the heel of his glove next time.

I don't know. It's always the media's fault for hyping stuff like this. It's an obscure rule. Pine tar is not a big deal. It gives a little grip and maybe a little spin on breaking balls. It has little or no effect on fastballs. Many pitchers do it, even though they "shouldn't".

BTW, having pine tar is not an instant ten game ban. In their discretion, the umpires can give a warning. This may have been what happened and Rogers didn't want to admit on National television that he "cheated".

Since the Cardinal's players/manager didn't call him a cheater, faced with the issue, there is no reason for everyone else to say so. The umpires handled it well under the rules and that is that.

Come on. Anyone who pitches with dirt on his hands in the first inning and removes it after the first and pitches the same if not better is a cheater. Don't you know anything??!! lol!

By the way, I totally agree with you. I'm not sure if Rogers is lying that the umps. didn't say anything about it to him or not. I kind of think he might be lying a little because he said that he didn't know it was there and then just washed it off after the first inning and the umpires never said anything to him about it. Well, umpire supervisore Steve Palermo said the home plate ump. asked Rogers to remove it. But, whichever story is true, this doesn't make Rogers a cheater. Cardinal fans are just sore because their team lost last night!

Another thing-the umps. ruled the substance as dirt and dirt is not an illegal substance, therfore, he wasw not ceheting!!

Yes he did throw seven scoreless innings after it was washed off. But no telling the effect it had on the first inning he pitched, so cheating, even if for one inning, isn't justified by the fact that he did great after 'washing' it off. For three outs and against the top of the order, he was a cheater - period.

pine tar is still sticky after you wash it to the point of no visible trace.

Sticky=more grip=more action & speed=cheat

Actualy I am a Cubs fan, but that does not change the fact that Kenny had the identical foreign substance on his hand for several post season games this year.

I am not buying that it was dirt, the "dirt" at a baseball stadium in closer to kitty litter than anything else and does not leave a stain the same color as pine tar.

First of all he is older than dirt, but secondly, there is video proof of a substance on his palm area in all three games he pitched. As soon as Tony LaRussa talked to the umps about it he washed it off. Wake up and smell the pinetar.

That's the point. He didn't have to use it.

But then if he was tossed out of the game, then the Cards would have won.... that makes him a cheater.

I am not a Cardinals fan. I'm a baseball fan.

he pitched great. but i saw it and you saw it. he had something on his hand. thats against the rules of baseball. look it up.

i dont really care though because LaRussa doesnt care. If he wants to sit back and pus*y out on calling Rogers a cheater and having him searched then screw it, i dont care either.

Because Kenny Rogers just isn't liked all around baseball..So if he does something good, people want to take it away from him since he is not well liked..thats what I think that it is.

I'm very pleased with his performance if you ask me.

Many cynics will wonder how Rogers can string together 23 scoreless innings when he's always been liable to throw the ball through someone's head. I think he's mellowed with age and does not have to cheat in order to prove how good he is.
