I am a person with a disability (I am in a wheelchair as a result of being born with Muscular Dystrophy). I have a college degree (BS in Public Administration) and a high GPA (3.388). Unfortunatly I have limited work expirence because I am 1) limited in what jobs I physically can do and 2) many employers do not want to hire a person with a disability. So as a result I am stuck in the loop of needing more expirence to get a job but obviously needing a job to get expirence. I was curious if anyone had any advice on what I should do in hopes of gaining employment despite my obvious disability? I have tried a state employment agency but many of the clients they work with suffer from developmental disorders but are able to work in a warehouse, or grocery store. I I am looking for a chance to prove I can be a valued asset to any company that gives me a chance to be a proffessiononal.

I live in Texas so there are few government jobs and the ones that do exist require expirence, the state is also very pro buisness and has few protections against a state not hiring me for the fact I am in a wheelchair (they can simply say I am not the right fit for the company or lack expirence). I apologize to those who have seen this post before the first one was deleted by mistake.

Try starting with a volunteer job. They're less strict about requiring experience.

(I'm stuck in a similar "sit"uation... I'm in a wheelchair as a result of being born with C.P. My last paid job was 10 years ago (partially due to going to college the past 3-4 years) & I have a volunteer job now. (All of my jobs have been in an office setting, working with computers*.) Because of how long ago it was, I never know if I should put my paid employment history on my job application/résumé.)

Get the pun? ("sit"uation because we have to sit down due to our disabilities.)

because the first man or woman to respond to suggested, in the journey that they could be able to vote why can't they qualify below the U.S. Disabilities Act? I somewhat have discovered that maximum folk at the same time as they die change into Democrats, so it is a short step for the lifeless to attempt to get incapacity rather of in search of benefit finished employment. Hell, if fat human beings, druggies and alcoholics can convey mutually a verify, why no longer lifeless human beings. I heard that in the hot pollObama is thrashing McCain by technique of one hundred% with the lifeless.

I hire a number of people with physically disabilities to help me in my recruitment business. They help me format the resumes and conduct searches via our databases.

However, my advice for you would be to take up other skillsets in Web Design, Graphic Design, Search Engine Optimization or Internet Marketing. This would provide a more stable and long term opportunity.
