I'd call it "Sound Activated", "Sound Controlled", "Beat Activated" or "Beat Controlled" lighting...

There are two ways you typically see this feature:
1) A built-in microphone
2) an input for external source of music (usually RCA plugs)

Try Radio Shack, or Fry's Electronics. They have pretty much what you are looking for.

A few weeks ago, I was browsing through KOHL's while my wife was shopping, and saw exactly what you want -- a patch panel that pulsates according to music, and goes out to plugs that control lights.

I think it's called FX motion light or something similar. We got it at
Spencer gift's at a mall, they have all sorts of party lights like that.

it's known as pulse lights and you can find them in any audio/electronic stores like radio shack and circui city and anywhere like that....i have some in my room that i just truned the light on to the output of my amplifier and it pulsed through the music but io suggest you get the actual one
