Sure, i published at 13. I self-published my book through http://www.lulu.com/
they are completely free and very easy to use. You can then buy a global distribution, or ISBN, which will put your book on Barnes and noble, borders, amazon.... i really like lulu, i think they are great. They also offer a great customer service if you get stuck.
If you think they are too good to be true (which was my original opinion) you can view my book at http://www.lulu.com/dchooper
Hope this helps.
For any more information about Lulu you can contact me at forensic_dreamer@hotmail.com (if you do contact me, put Lulu in the subject line, or i might report as spam)
Cheers, Deanna.

try getting to the media, write in to magazines or papers

if the book is written very well (for a child of this age) ,then it WILL BE in demand. But if its some trashy stuff, then it wont be any good. You gotta do some research then dear.

Assess the content and see what kind of event / association it will suit. And then write in to them. if the poem is about tsunami, or september 11, chances are , you can get them around. Once you have done a lot of these, document all of them and show it to a publisher. sometimes its not the content, its the popularity that counts.

Reading it during a charity show can also get your word around.. if you want to start with a minimal budget.

if all else fails, publish it your own.. you wont know if your investment can succeed. GOOD LUCK

The first step is to get a literary agent, who will pitch the book idea, it to a book publisher.

It is hard to find either, as a first-time publisher, especially for a kid.

Print copies from the computer and distribute them to friends and family, as a book of poems.

She should try submitting her poems to magazines. New Moon Magazine publishes a lot of material by girls ages 8-14--I'd try them first. Children's mags are her best bet for getting published.

But if she's committed to turning them into a book, she could self-publish through a site like lulu.com or instantpublisher.com.

The honest actuality right here? you will no longer get revealed as a teenager. And it is not me asserting this to shoot you down, yet i've got heard of such young toddlers in this communicate board desiring the comparable factor. And the probabilities of you getting oftentimes happening are someplace interior the comparable realm as triumphing the Mega Lottery on a $a million fee ticket with the help of itself. classic publishing? you have a a million in 900,000 shot at being taken in with the help of an outstanding writer in case you have been lots older and greater matured. Even nevertheless, it is an prolonged shot. yet as a fellow author, i'm chuffed to make certain that what you're writing IS unique. For awhile there, i presumed i replaced into the only one doing it nevertheless--seeing how absolutely everyone else is content fabric in being a mainstay copycat. :0)

Hi! I'm sorry i'm not a big help, but if you do find a publisher that will do that, post it 'cause i've already started a novel and need to get it published at some point. =)

Do some research on publishers and agents who do this kind of work. Explain that your friend is a first-timer when it comes to publishing.

Wow! Thats great that your friend really apreciates poetry that much, I know I didn't when I was her age. As for publishers, I'd google it. I know of big time ones who would probably just overlook her because she is so young (Don't get me wrong, she could be the next Shel Silverstein). I'd look for a small one, and If they like her and she continues to write poetry, they would refer her to a big time company with a good word about her.
