I know that a two channel plane would be best for my husband who is a beginner. I want to know the best brand in how sturdy it is, ease of getting it off the ground, etc. I've been looking around and I am confused by the number of RC planes out there. Help!!!

Check out EBay. Look for a high winged airplane like the Cessna 182. There will be acronyms of ARF (almost ready to fly) which you don't want unless he is into building one himself, and RTF (ready to fly) which includes plane, motor, radio, servos, and everything he will need to fly the plane. When you find one on EBay that you like, research it a bit by going to Tower Hobbies website and some of the EBay stores available. Most of the people online ae helpful, so don't be afraid to ask.
Good Luck!

I would check out the links below. They offer some great entry level fliers. As for research to learn more on your own, I recommend http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com. That site is a great source of information for all levels.

All I know is that Roy Orbison was a champion remote control air plane pilot. True story. When Orbison wasn't touring or recording, he was flying model planes.

Maybe there is something wrong with the batteries.
