I don't know why somoene would want to sell themself. I think it's just an idea that people find interesting.

People aren't for sale because it would be a violation of human rights to treat a person like a 'thing' to be 'owned' by someone. Every person is unique and therefore priceless - selling someone for £1 million means that they're not worth £1.5 million, and so on.

Um...yes you are. The Emancipation Proclamation put an end to whatever it is that you are proposing. It doesnt matter if it is straight slavery or endentured servitude. Anytime a person is purchased for money and/or bartered servces and a title to said person is held by payee, it is indeed slavery and illegal.
