That would be a question for your attorney.
On what basis are the grandparents trying to get custody?
If you were a model parent, they wouldn't feel the need to take action.
Look in the mirror, and be honest with YOURSELF for once, would the kids be better off?
A lot of it depends on the severity of her disorder and if the medication she is on helps, and if she takes it.
Unless you can prove the disorder would materially affect the safety/welfare of the children, it is irrelevant.

I doubt it will really help unless you can prove the grandmother has caused harm due to her disorder. I say this because in my custody case, my ex CLAIMED I was bi-polar. I'm not & went to a psychiatrist to be evaluated & have him write a letter. In the course of the visit he said I'd have been better off if i DID have bi-polar because the court viewed people using that as a reason to change custody as the equal. to picking on a handicapped person. Since you are intending to keep custody & not change it, the bi-polar thing MAY help? Run it by an atty. to find out for sure.
I'm sorry you are going through this. I know it's a HORRIBLE & very aggrivating issue to have anyone try to take your child from you.
All the best to you & your child!

I dont think you gave enough info. Why are they trying to get custody from you or is the child in the foster care system? Either way the grandmothers health problem will make much difference so long as she is taking meds and controlling it.

You didn't give enough information to clearly answer your question. It is a bit different state to state. If the child is in foster care presently that is to their advantage regardless of the grandmother's illness.

I don't think it will much, because there are many medications out there to control this. I know of several people who are bi-polar and are great parents, as long as they remember their meds they are great people....so it can be controlled...it won't help to much.
