I think you may need to do a Shift+Print Screen (PrtScr) to get the snapshot.
**Edit - either way works****
You could also just print out and scan the Word doc. Then it's and image.
But the real question is "Why on earth do you want a Word doc in Photoshop?"
If you need the text, then select all and copy in Word and paste into Photoshop by adding a text box. The font may or may not be the same.
If you want to edit an image that is in the Word doc, then you could strip out the image from Word, open it in Photoshop, edit it, save, and then bring it back into Word.

Yeah press Print Screen go into Photoshop then press Paste.
If that way doesn't suit you go here http://www.primopdf.com to download PrimoPDF, a free tool that you can use to change word files to PDF.
Then just open the PDF in Photoshop and you're done.

Yes, in Word go to print Preview, adjust the zoom on the Print preview so you get all page on the screen without seeing any work formatting characters. Press to copy page to clipboard. In Paintshop select new document default should be automatically set to clipboard size. Select Paste from Paintshop. Then crop the screen to remove the Word preview surround. Repeat for each of the pages.
