I believe I might be pregnant, however the doc took a urine test around where I would be 2 weeks pregnant. It came back negative. But she also took it around 5pm after I had already peed recently, and forced me to pee for the sample. (I had to chug some water before I could even go again.) I hear you should take that test after you've allowed that pregnancy hormone to build atleast four hours, especially if you're really early on. Anyone experience this before?

Yes, I took three tests, all came up negative (tried different brands) within a 2 week period. Then, 1 week after that, I had two positive tests. It can happen, and happens more often than you think because you can get pregnant any time of the month, NOT just the days you ovulate. I got pregnant the day my period was due, so when my period was 5 days late, it was too early! Finally three weeks late and it came up positive. I am 12 weeks now! Good Luck!

Because they date pregnancy from the beginning of your last period, two weeks would only put you at about the point in your cycle where you would be ovulating. If you mean that you are actually two weeks after conceiving, you would actually be four weeks pregnant and would have just missed your period. In this case it would still be plausible to have a false negative, and I would suggest taking another one in about a week. BTW, the urine test your doctor does is the exact same test as the ones you buy at the store. If you haven't missed your period yet, you probably don't have enough HCG in your system to show up on a urine test, and should take one after you miss your period.

Absolutely possible.

When you say 2 weeks pregnant...do you mean 2 weeks past your period? Technically, the way they count the weeks of pregnancy, 2 weeks would be right around ovulation. Most women don't find out about pregnancy until 4 weeks or later.

The four hour rule is a general rule-you are right. If you miss your period, try testing with a home pregnancy test.

Yes..and HCG Beta test is the only true way to tell if you are pg early and that is a blood test. Some HPT's are more sensitive than other, but the first morning pee is the best and the more water you drink the more it dilutes the HCG in your system. Try with a urine from first thing in the morning..you will get better results.

I had 2 false negs early on (@ 3 weeks & 4weeks), but my dr. thinks it was due to a severe bladder infection I had at the time. First pee in the morning is the best time to test, so if all signs are still pointing to being pregnant, I would suggest scheduling an early morning appt!

Good luck!

Yes, you can definitely test false negative early in your pregnancy. I think a good rule of thumb is a week after your first missed period.
