With the exception of maybe the Chicago Cubs, loosing teams do not put butts in the seats, so owners loose money. Owners want to make money so the want winning teams. Better players increase the probability of having a winning team, so owners are willing to get into bidding wars with each other over the better players, that raises salaries.

What you are suggesting is called socialism at its best and communism at its worst.
Why would you feel that anyone should be able to step in and take money away from people that 1-have earned it fair and square and 2-have been more blessed than others.
I, for one, do not choose to live in a country that feels we can step in and take all an individuals money "for the greater good". It is bad enough my tax dollars go to support people who choose to not better themselves, now I should give them all of it?

as long as there is a demand in the entertainment industry (and i believe sports is part of that industry), they will always earn more money.
i agree it's not always fair...people as dumb as jessica simpson makes more money than ceo's of small companies. really, what's the point of going to school if you got role models like that?
