Well it's no secret that our weather is becoming more turbulent, due to global warming, and on shorter timescales, to phenomeon like el nino, and the activity on the sun, so we should assume that, as storms increase, so will the lightning.

It doesnt increase or decrease,it moves globally,what happens on this side of the earth(lightning strike) effects a storm on the opposite side,and vise versa

Increasing tremendously. If things continue in this trend, eventually lightning is all that will be. How boring would that be?
