I have noticed most religions try to define life and how to live it appropriately and all the rules you must obey...they are more rules about life and not really about the individual and his relationship to God

but Jesus did not mention anything about what life is and how you should live life...and He did not enforce any rules regarding life....He just set an example instead of creating rules.

Why cant we just listen to our concience, love one another, love truth, be honest, be kind and have faith in a good God who loves us. If we have no faith in God then you cannot blame God. If it turns out that there is no God will you stop listening to your concience, stop being honest and kind...then it means that you were doing all those things just for the sake of some reward.

Religion - man's systematic attempts and understanding and approaching God.

It's not necessary. Jesus hated religion and he hated the pious and self-righteous acts of man. That is why he was killed! I don't say this cliche - but what we need is a relationship with Jesus as our "high priest" (book of Hebrews - NT) and to walk with him and the Holy Spirit he sent to us.

BUT, if you are equating religion with all churches, beliefs, etc. There is this emptiness that seems to betwitch all people and cause them to never be satisfied with anything on earth. The rich, famous, sexy, rulers, or whomever else are NEVER satisfied.

I believe that is because this emptiness is what Jean Paul Sartre called a "God shaped hole" that only God could fill.

We can just be good, truthful kind and loving, after all that is God's way. Religion gives us the support and feed back we need. The rules and doctrine which are imposed by man are optional. Jesus' doctrin is the word of God not religion.

Well these days we have so many different beliefs and religions. Its hard to tell where to go and where you will end up. As a christian myself i attended churches that spoke of nothing but the bible since i was very young, in my teen hood i accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. Further on in life i realized how the churches seemed to drift apart and religions seem to go somewhere else and people started believing that the only way to heaven is to dress nice or be nice or do stuff right and lead people in different paths cause it sounds good to them they think that this is what its supposed to be well its not supposed to be this way however life changes and people change with it. Now people started believing there is no heaven there is no hell we all just die
its up to the individual to decide on there own where they want to stand in all this. And i remain the same person as i was when i came into being a christian, no church will change me no person will change i believe since i have accepted Jesus christ and GOD that when i die my soul will leave my body and i will go to heaven where all good is at.

Religion, as with everything else, is an invention of human beings. We don't need it. It exists because it gives some people comfort, or because it gives some people rules of behavior. It tries to give answers to questions where science has not yet reached a definite answer. But there's a problem with one or more religions saying it knows "THE" way and everyone else is wrong. People stop thinking. And then they start hating.

There's nothing wrong with saying, "I don't know."

The reason why we need religion is because we do not realize that humans on themselves can't maintain. That's why God the father exists, we do not fully realize that God's commandments are a sacred laws of virtue, we don't see virtue being sacred. If we in this world applied all the negative things to our lives we as humans will not exist, but if we keep applying everything that is of virtue we will realize we are not only destroying our bodies but also our spirits within, which I believe it's our true and natural selves. We have to realize that we are not only part of the universe but participants of it. We have to magngify the spiritual power within us, but only through righteousness can such power be magnified. All things that is of matter of this world comes from pure energy, we are energy, our spirits are energy, we are One in God and God within us. God is omni potent, omni scient, and omni present (in spirit), that is why God is an emotional God.

the human pysche is why, were wired that way, human nature dictates that we are not masters of the universe,it was here before us,and from the time of ancient man we stared at the sky and knew we didnt create it,as far as truthful kind loving people its also hard wired into the human condition, but learned practices from childhood(show me a kindergartner who knows the difference in one another on an understandable level)and If one exists he was learned into it,do I believe in religion yes,but I think they all sprang from one idea at one time and branched out because like learned practices, people can't stand living by the rules(most of them by the way

The irrationality of religion has a scientific basis. It goes back to our cave man days when man was very insecure living in a hostile environment. The cerebral cortex of our brain (the complex thinking apparatus) is a relatively recent addition.

The more primitive underlying limbic system, the seat of our ancient emotions or innate temperaments, is in all of us. Humans use both systems. In times of trouble, people still pray for intervention by the god(s). Prayers are requests by persons to have the laws of the universe repealed in their favor.

People who are rational, relying on their cerebral cortex, look at all the absurdities in religion. Christian dogma expects people to believe the fairy tale of Noah's ark, although it is patently impossible to squeeze even samples of billions of the world's animals into one small ark. Rational persons consider such stories ludicrous.

The bible account of the creation of man and the universe is in such contradiction to irrefutable facts that a rational person cannot help but laugh about such fantasies.

Have you heard the saying "there's no atheists in foxholes?" Its because in times of danger, humans revert to the primitive part of their brain for security. We needed religion to survive in a hostile universe back in the cave man days.

We do not need religion .If you love God then that is all you need .Religion is only another way to make money .Have you noticed that all the churches and Holy places are extremely wealthy ...
It seems that since Jesus threw money makers out of the church we have readmitted them continously ,sorry to say.

I think it's because it gives people a reason to live right. And it makes people think that there is something more after we die... heaven, hell, what-have-you.

I think that religion is no different from just being good. I think religion gives some people reasons to be judgemental and hypoctritical. But that's just me.

I'm agnostic..... I believe in something... I'm just not sure as to what at this point in my life.
