I think they were pretty surprised to find out they were in bed with the religious right, and that's a very socially oriented invasive group. Conservatives also tend to want less spending and between earmarking and the unfunded war, they are aghast.
That said, only some of them will have learned their lesson and they will continue to hold their nose and vote Republican.

Bereal1, if that's true, will you feel the same support for a Democratic President should we have one. Would President Hillary have the same unquestioning support that you show to Bush just for holding the same office?

Yes, finally! Many would have moved away a long time ago if it wasn't for 9/11, the spineless opposition, their domination of the media and the constant beating of the "terrorist threat" drum.

Now, Conservatives are starting to see that the neo-con agenda directly contradicts Conservative principles.

I think that the majority of conservatives fall into two camps with regards to the neocons.
1. They are holding their nose to avoid the stench as they vote Republican.
2. They feel so betrayed by a socially theocratic and fiscally irresponsible Bush administration that nothing in the world would get them to vote Republican while the party is dominated by religious extremists.

I fall into the second camp.

They are not conservatives. This regime of so called conservatives have become liberal with the federal spending and it's terrible. Reagan would not be happy with the way conservatives of today are invoking his name when they tried to rally a group of people.
