Yes, but there not as good as the Cobalt. More reliable than new Toyotas and that stuff. Automobile Magazine picked the HHR over the Scion xB and Chrysler PT Cruiser so how bad could it be? Toyota had the most recalls last year, while GM has the most top-rated vehicles. You could also check out the Pontiac Vibe (essentially a rebadged, restyled, Toyota Matrix although the engine and parts are all the same). Overall opinion on the HHR is good, but do opt for the bigger engine as the little one may get overworked at times

Chevy Hhr Reliability

It will be just as reliable as a cobalt, since they share the same platform and drivetrains. These cars have been put through an amazing amount of testing to ensure that they will hold up, much better than older cars. Since the Cobalt has been around for a couple years now, I'd say that the HHR should be pretty reliable.

The best advice I can give you, is to advoid this car. The reason being is that whenever a new car is launched, it useally takes 2-4 years for the manufacturers to work all of the "bugs" out. By waiting, you should be able to form an opinion on weather or not you can depend on it. I recommend buying another car now, and looking at the HHR when you are ready to buy another car. Good luck and have a great day.

The HHR is a rebodied COBALT; not Chevrolets best car on any day.

Gosh, it seems everyone has an opinion...

GM has just as high initial quality as Toyota, Honda, or any other Japanese brand, plus a 5 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, which none of them can match. Which do you think will be more reliable?

.| .....I think Rob D has the HHR confused with the SSR...

yes it is and its freaken fast I got to test drive a six speed manual one and they are awesome. But then I had to go back to driving my Chevy Lumina. Their is a big difference from 140hp 3.1L V6 3 speed auto to a 350 V8 with 400HP and six speed manual.
I wish I had an HHR. you should buy one. I wish my Lumina could be on that show overhauled Chip Foose fix up my car!

Seems like a large vehicle for that 4 banger engine.

Do yourself a favor if you want reliability, look at a Toyota, Mazda, or Honda.
