In the last month or so, my partner and I have noticed an increase in the gnat population. These gnats have seemed to migrate to the inside of our apartment causing a huge problem. We keep our apartment very clean (not leaving out food, taking trash out on a regular basis, cleaning drains with hot water and bleach) all with no avail.

I had a similar problem a few months ago, and someone else suggested leaving bowls of vinegar. It seemed to work: I've no gnats now.

The gnat problem was addressed here and vinegar was an answer. I bought a house gecko to get rid of them, some moths and some spiders. Houseplants contributed to my gnat problem, so you may want to cover or spray the soil. If you have houseplants, when you water them, see if gnats suddenly fly up.

If you have no fruit out, I'm confused. Try burning sandalwood incense, it works for mosquitoes.
