Seems if he had mentioned it before the war and the time it would take to accomplish instead of after he got us in and we destroyed that nation we might not have gone .

First of all, I believe that he did say it was going to be a long and difficult war. Further, I don't recall anyone being confused about whether we would try to install a democratic government.

Imagine if we had not gone and Saddam developed a nuclear weapon and gave it to Al Quaida. We could have had tens if not hundreds of thousands of Americans killed.

Far-fetched maybe. But if it did happen, do you suppose that the Democrats would be saying "...well, you can't blame George Bush, he tried to let the UN deal with Saddam"???

Hindsight used to be 20-20. But reading some of the commentary on YA, I'd say that hindsight is blind as a bat!

Seems like you answered your own question, but the plan was basically this:

Step One: Get us into war to create a sinkhole of money that shifts money from the masses to the very rich.
Step Two: Sustain that war/sinkhole as long as possible.

Before the war started, they were trying everything they could to just get us in there, because they knew once we were there we couldn't leave for a long time. Once we were there, focus shifted to keeping us there.

Remember, very smart people have likened this war to the largest looting of tax-payer dollars in world history. When people take actions that at first don't seem to make sense, following the money trail almost invariably leads to the real reason.

He said he wanted to go in to disarm Iraq and depose Saddam. In saying he wanted to take Saddam out of office was there any doubt that they would put in a democracy instead of appointing their own dictator.

500 senators and representatives voted for war with the intention being to take out the countries leader. They all must have known that we would be establishing a new government.

If most Americans had simply thought this war through, they would never have supported it.
