If you did not speak the language of the country that you resided in, then do you think that country should accomodate you with special considerations or should you learn the language of your country? If you think that non-English speaking people should vote, then where do you think they would get the important info on who to vote for?. . .. Nothing intended here.. .Just want to see where the populace stands on this issue.

Anyone who is a legal US citizen has the right to vote-thats just how it is. Actually, I probably trust someone who doesnt speak English very well more than the uneducated English speaking citizen who votes for who their friends/relatives tell them to. My boyfriends father was an immigrant and didnt speak English very well but is a heart surgeon. Most of the kids I graduated HS with speak English and work at places like Radio Shack. Who's vote would I value/trust more? Most people dont even know the real issues or where each candidate stands if you ask them.

Absolutely.. If they can't speak the language how can they understand the agendas.... If allowed to vote these non-English speaking individuals become no more than pawns in a political "grab em' up before they get it " campaign which is unfair to the individual and this great Nation..

I feel they should learn English....! A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

eh... on one hand I think... it's America... speak whatever language you want...

I mean, where I vote it's all computerized... I assume most places are going the same way... it wouldn't be that expensive to just program one ballot in several different languages, you make the program once, it's done...

no one really worries where "people that do speak English" get their info... in fact, the vast majority are probably horribly uninformed that do speak English...

but overall... this isn't a big issue to me... I wouldn't vote against someone that held your point of view...

A new immigrant to the US would probably not be a citizen. To cast a legal vote in the US you must be a legal citizen of the US. To cast a legal vote in the state, county, city that you live in you must be a legal citizen of that state, county, city. Perhaps a translation of the ballot could be provided if asked for, but the ballot itself should be in English and should be cast in English.

In California, they have ballots with over FIFTEEN different languages on them. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! Not only does it cost a fortune, but most of them don't even have any idea what they are doing when they do vote. The average American doesn't follow issues, what makes anyone think a alien would. Where are the Men In Black when we need them?
