I just read 'beautful child' and I hate they way the girl was treated but in the end she was helped by Torey Hayden and the may other people involved in the case. I have also read 'one child', 'tigers child', 'just another kid', 'ghost girl' and 'twilight children'.
Do any of you have a favourite book? Or what do you make of any of the books you read?

I love them too. It's because of reading her books that I added a minor of Special Ed to my already busy school schedule. I can't remember which book it was, but remember when she had the little girl in her class that kept referring to the rest of the students as completely nuts? She had been the only girl in the class and was put with Torey because the other teachers didn't want to be bothered with her. Then the two sisters came in and the girl said oh good now I've got a friend but the sister she was referring to didn't talk or something so the girl asked Torey if all the kids that were going to be in her room nuts too? I think that was in Twilight children but I can't be sure. Eventually when I get some free time I'll read them again.
if you liked stories like that check out A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer and Between A Rock and a Hard Place- sorry can't remember the author of that one, but they are about special needs children as well. Dave Pelzer was an abused child here in the SF/Bay Area and went through an awful lot of terrible things because his mom was insane but nobody would help him. There are 2 or 3 sequals to A Child Called It and one of his brothers wrote a book as well

Yeah i agree, only read 'ghost girl' so far but am currently reading 'just another kid' think shes an amazing women, i work with kids and if i can have half the imput and effect on the children as she did, then i know im doing a good job.
