Truth is there are many reasons to "why a human would want to end his/her life". It is easy for outsiders to pass judgement. However, we do not understand the issues involve. Personally, I am never Pro-suicide. I believe that there will always be a avenue to solve all problems.
Moreover, from my understanding, the person involve in under extreme pressure and could be suffering from depression (thus mentally unstable). He believes that the only way to bring his family out of proverty is to end his life so that donations to his funeral could benfit his family. In addition, he might have insurance that can be claimed after his death. Sadly, I believe that was his thought when he ended his life.
Remember life is precious....suicide not only affect you...but everyone around you....may his soul rest in peace.
Cheers...

I think suicide is never the answer to anything. Jumping into the MRT track show inconsideration to others. Think of the number of people that are affected because of the MRT not being able to function while cleaning up his remains. Some one could have lost their job because they are late for work or appointment.

Personally, I don't agreed with what he have done. No doubt life is hard and he faces money problem but he need to face it bravely. But did he think how his family feel when he do such thing. Sometimes this is part of the obstacles that we may face in our lives and we need to face it bravely and not just run away from it.
By ending his life, he actually put more misery on his family members.Yes, as Singaporean will donate money to his family so that they can have better life but did he think that if thing don't work out this way his family have more suffering. I don't mean to critise him but I feel that he should really think carefully and not just end his life in this manner

It's a pity that he choose to end his life this way.Yes, the death of this man makes headlines in papers and singaporean donate money to his family, but can this money solve all his problem?Yes and No.
Yes,his wife can clear all the debts with all this donation from the publc.Have some cash for their mothly expense and child education.
No,the wife will miss her husband, the sons will miss the father and that's no amount of money can bring him back to life.
Maybe he's under depression, and badly needs to talk to somebody about all his problem, because as a family man he try to give the best to his family, and won't show any sign of worry to the families member.I think if there is 1 person who he can talks to,maybe he won't jump down the track and kill himself.
This really shows us that, there are still some very poor singaporean out there, who hardly can makes end meet.Hopefully the government will try their best to help those needy before it happens again...

I feel that he is just being irresponsible. He never think of what will happen to his family after he died. He must be thinking that without him, definitely there will be someone out there 2 help his family. To me, I find that in Singapore, there is always 'there's a will, there's a way'. He is a coward. He is just using this method to make others help his family. In another words, he is trying to fool others.

my first impression without knowing the details was that..if one want to commit sucide..its his/her own choice..But do not have to cause inconvience to other people..as causing the train to stop..passengers went home later etc..
as a guy and a father, he should think of other ways to provide food on the table for his family.
if he is poor..he shouldn;t even have kids..as he is giving them a hard life.. or should not married in the first place
i felt he was running from reality and failed his duty as hubby and father to his kids..
anyway was surprised sg still have people who are so poor with 500 per month to feed 4 person..
i tink the rich is getting richer..the poor is getting poorer..

i do think he might be severely depressed. it is difficult to rationalise how a depressed person think.
it is easy for us to judge and say why take the easy way out etc..but how do one realise the pain if we are not in the same position ourselves.
