I know the risks are low. But me and my husband were the same way about birth control. I didn't take them cause of the thought of blood clots, stroke, heart attack etc scared me.. We had all our kids so he got fixed. Just use a condom and if he doesn't like that then you will have to use b/c..

Maybe reader's digest or a page like that, tried good housekeeping? The new pills are not that bad about mood swings and weight control, so do not fret my friend. Injections are riskier than pills because the effect on the body lasts for a whole month, with pills, you can just quit. If you have mood swings it's maybe because you have little cysts in your ovaries (nothing major) and mess up your hormone balance. Taking birth control pill will actually help you with that, and one of the most frightening side effects is that after prolonged use chances are you might get pregnant with twins or triplets and so on. Take your fiance to your doctor and talk about this together.

If you are over 35 (and/or you smoke) that increase you risk for a stroke.
I would recommend the patch. Because it does not have to be filtered by your kidneys, the hormones go right into your system and they can use a much lower dose. That will help with those nasty hormonal side effects and reduce the chances of blood clots. Talk to your GYN about it.

Talk to your doctor about the different birth control options available. Just because the Nova Ring ring was a problem doesn't mean everything will be. Take him to the doctor with you so he can ask questions, too. Perhaps it will put his mind at ease. If all else fails, just tell him to use a condom. although, it sounds to me like he just needs to chill.

ask your doctor about the paragard IUD. it is hormone free. Lots of doctors recommend it for all paitents, some recommend it only for women who have had children. But ask about it. VERY effective and no hormones...and you can leave it in for up to 10 years.

I notice you didn't mention a condom.Ask him if he prefers birth control or abstinence, his choice. But he better be able to live with his choice!

Why don't you just use the pill? From what I've heard there are almost no side-effects.
