when we all know that looks matter? I mean, I am just not trying to sound conceited but I am not 21 yet and I have alreadyfound out that a way to success is by looks alone.

Looks fade... in the long run, the only thing you have is your character (i.e. what's inside).

I know I'm getting thumbs down for this, but I'm not gonna lie just to get thumbs up.
Because many low brow type people can't think for themselves & like repeating positive sounding phrases they heard others say in order to sound great & sincere to gain cheated respect.
Logically, the inside AND outside counts, otherwise we'd all be bisexual and it wouldn't matter if a girl looked like Mr. T as long as her personality was good. Life is about balance.
Also, looks alone doesn't get you far, it's also they way you sound, and present yourself. Who you are as a person means very little to most people. And how good a worker you are means little as well. This is why there's a lot of very dumb bosses in charge of big companies. They looked cool, sounded cool, presented themselves in a way everyone likes and got the job. But clearly that doesn't mean they're qualified for the job. Many are good at making you think they are qualified and you believe it until you actually look at what they do everyday and what they're actually getting done....which is usually very little.

I'll disagree with your statement that the way to success is by looks alone. There are a number of examples to refute that, but I won't be mean (to the examples).
The inside counts because your looks won't matter when you're 80 my friend.

Because beauty is only skin deep and stupidity runs throughout. A person can be attractive and appealing by their looks, but you may find the person to be very "ugly" inside. Most people could live with an unattrative person if they like their personality, humor, shared interests, etc...but no matter how good looking someone is, if they are not a good person inside, it will be short-lived.

You'll have success, yes...but what then? Your outward appearance will gain you outward success, but fullfilment you shall not have ::spoken in the voice of Yoda::
Think of all the rich and beautiful people in Hollywood. Is anybody happy there? The average marriage lasts 18 minutes and the average blood alcohol level is 2.8.
Only a select few are granted with outward beauty and inner beauty. Your question tells me you aren't one...

What is on the inside is usually reflected on the outside. Looks alone will get you somewhere, but the place you ultimately end up will be empty and lonely, not because there aren't people who admire your outside appearance, but because no one has become a friend to your soul. Your insides makes your outsides shine.

If you are not yet 21, then your looks wiil be very important to you.
You cannot yet realise that looks don't really mean very much if a person is capable of gruesome acts. I don't mean you. Just take a while to observe the behaviour and thought patterns of a "beautiful" person.

Because we are optimists. We want to believe in the best of humanity. Sometimes personality really does outshine physical appearance. Most of those are usually comedians or saints. Looks alone can get you a lot of places, but it won't get you everywhere. Besides, I'd rather be known for my intelligence than my looks.

It means that don't hold on to the beautiful girl or guy who is a sh.it eating jack ***** nasty person.
OFCOURSE it doesn't mean go for who you think is ugly, but like a car, house or clothes, the quality of the inner makeup should be the deciding faster...I mean, if a PINTO looked like a Porsche but still drove like a PINTO...its the INSIDE that counts....

It is a generic comment that was created to make unattractive people feel Ok with being unattractive. It is totally what should be true, but it's not. Either looks or money will get you so much further than education and determination.

success is really about connections and dressing nice...not necessarily having a handsome/pretty face, but like being in shape and dressing well. it's because people like to see you then judge you.
BUT
In order to get those connections, you really use your intelligence, charm, wit, skill....and those are on the inside.
