Well, that is one theory.
Another is that there are 3 separate governmental entitities: The Executive, the Legislature, and the S. Court...
Gridlock ends up in S. Ct...
Still smug?

it will be a good thing. there is no checks and balances at the moment. Republicans are in charge of all 3 branches of the government How can there be checks and balances with that? Also those who use the excuse of nothing getting done by a divided government- Are you kidding me? Nothing is getting done now! and what has gotten done has given the USA the worst Standing in the world that it has ever had. We have never been so hated in our history. Our current government is not practicing what they preach and what this country is founded on FREEDOM.

I hope that you are just being pessimistic, the best legislation comes out of compromise, the last 6 years have been under one party rule, nothing good has come of it. We need a democratic congress to restore checks and balance the government. Let us hope for the best that Bush can work with the congress and it will temper his assault on the constitution.

balance of power is one of the founding principles of this nation and needs to be restored. I'm a democrat but i can say that if the tables had been turned and the democrats had the absolute power the republicans have had the nation would still be screwed up, just in different ways. that is why we should always have a balance!

you are dreaming if you think the republicans will lose the midterms. They will not. economy is to good for that. that is why you see the Dem's resorting to all kinds of sideshows just like the repubs did with Clinton. Personally I like it when the gov is divided, that means they can't go digging in my pocket.

you're implying that things were getting done when it wasn't divided?
Bush is almost a lame duck now... many congressmen have gone against him from his own party on a variety of issues... it's really odd...
