It might be stress hon. The more you stress about it, the longer your period will be missing in action. If it doesn't come within the next week, take another test, and if it comes up negative, you might wanna call your doctor to find out why your period is hiding from you.

There are a lot of things that can make your period late or make you miss it entirely: stress, travel, increased exercise, and changes in diet just to name a few. Then again, you could be pregnant and just have low levels of Hcg such that they don't show up yet. Try not to waste too much money on pregnancy tests close together. Wait another 4 days (so it will be 1 week late) and if your period hasn't started yet, test again with first morning urine. If it is still negative, wait another week, and if your period hasn't started make a doctor's apointment so you can get a blood test.

I know it is difficult. I once had a 42 day cycle (they are normally 28-30 days) just due to the stress of trying to conceive and being sick. (We did manage to conceive the next month, so if you are ttc, hang in there!)

WRONG! You can get pregnant any time of the month! The days you ovulate are only the HIGHEST fertility days. That is a MAJOR misconception that you can only get pregnant on those days. I got pregnant the day my period was actually due. I didn't get a positive test until 3 weeks later, and Obviously, no period. I took three tests before thinking the same thing, that I would have to beable to get a positive test because I was at least 3 weeks along....nope! My OBGYN set me straight on that one. Wait it out, and test in a week or so! Good Luck!

same thing happened to me. I am preg. with #3. She sent me this information and told me to go with the lowest number preg. test you can get. everyday can make a difference in your hcg level so if you tested a few days ago, test again in a day or so.

Pregnancy Test - Sensitivity Comparison
Pregnancy Tests and hCG Values
The pregnancy tests on the market today range widely in their sensitivity in picking up the pregnancy hormone, hCG. In the chart below, the lower the number in the "hCG Detected" column, the earlier you can use the pregnancy tests. As a general rule, hCG levels, if you are pregnant, are between 5 - 50 mIU a week before your period is due. The hCG levels in your system should double every two to three days.
Please remember that every woman is different and the time it takes for the fertilized egg to implant in your uterus wall can vary. A common misconception is that implantion occurs 7 days after conception, but the research findings showed that first appearance of HCG (implantation) occurred 6-12 days after ovulation, with 84% of the pregnancies implanting on days 8-10 after ovulation. If you don't get a positive pregnancy test, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are not pregnant. It could be that you ovulated later than you thought (meaning that conception and subsequent hCG production didn't happen as when you expected) or that, for you, implantation took longer than the average. Your period arriving is a sign that you are not pregnant this cycle, as is a negative blood test from your doctor.

Is a super sensitive pregnancy test the best to use?
For most women, the resounding answer would be YES! It allows you to know earlier if your attempts to conceive were sucessful and get medical care as soon as possible. There *is* a down side to extra sensitive pregnancy tests though. 25% of all pregnancies unfortunately end in miscarriage and many of these being very early pregnancies. If you use a very sensitive pregnancy test, where you test before the day your period is due, you could catch an early pregnancy but end up going on to have your period anyway due to a very early miscarriage. Some women will find it very hard to deal with this sort of emotional rollercoaster.

It's a hormone level thing. Most people can tell after a few days, but for some they can't tell for longer or unless they have a blood test. Best answer is to go to the doctor and have them test you. And relax, because as someone else said, stress most assuredly will mess up your period...

pregnancy tests will not work if you are only late by a few days, you usually need to wait about 3 weeks until the test will be accurate. if you have had unprotected sex lately and honestly think you may be pregnant, go to the doc and have a blood test done (which you will have to do eventually anyway) Good luck with everything

Same thing happened to me. I waited until first thing in the morning (first morning pee) and took the test. Bright pink double line. I had taken one the night before that was negative.... I'm due in December!

Yes, you could be pregnant but your hormone level might not be enough to detect yet. Wait another week and if no period yet take another urine test.
