I've seen a documentary about the sun and it said that the sun will grow larger in size and will swallow mercury whole. The change in size will cause extreme heat and everything on the earth will be sorched to death meaning that the whole planet will hotter than an oven. Once the sun explodes all the planets will be destroyed in the process. Since mecury, venus, earth and mars are the inner planets they will be the first to go and the shockwave and power of the explosion will blow the gas giants away like dust leaving nothing left. It is said that this will happen in 5 billion years from now.

Heh, just answered it in a question before this one. The sun won't actually explode, it will expand in size and consume the first four planets, then after a while it will shrink down to a very small size.
Our sun is not massive enough to explode.

Its immpossible for the sun to explode. However, if it did, the suns supernova would create a massive shockwave: The shockwave you crush and annhilate all planets. Then, the remains of the sun would be blasted into space, and then be used with other stars. That is a theory of how our sun exists: it might be made of some matter from dead stars.

The Earth would be destroyed along with Mercury and Venus, if not then the fact that all living things on Earth cannot live without sun would come into play and we would all die of cold

We'd have about 8 and a half minutes of ignorant bliss. After which we'd either be rent apart at the molecular level by the approaching shockwave, or we'd freeze to death almost instantly.

I wouldn't worry, though. The odds of that happening are statistically insignificant.

We would either burn to death from all the pieces of fire that came through our atmosphere and exploded, or we would freeze to death almost immediately from the lack of heat.
