You really should read lots of leadership books. In my humble opinion, I believe John Maxwell is by far the best teacher in Leadership today. He has written many books and has led by example. I recommend his new book called "The 360degree Leader".

You've heard the term "born leaders." I believe these are simply people with very high self esteem and communication skills. I do believe that these are the most important attributes of a leader.

You must be strong in everything you do, at work and at home. You can desire what you want but not let that desire control you.

I am a team leader in my chosen career. I am a no BS, say what I mean, mean what I say, courage of my convictions, even if its not the most popular answer. I can be persuaded to other peoples points of view with good reasoning behind it. I realize that some people have stronger skills in one area than in another and I have to work with their strengths and help them in developing stronger skills in the areas they are not as strong in. I treat everyone fair and play no favorites.

As far as your second question....I don't sleep with anyone I work with and yes it IS necessary to maintain your professional relationships as just that, PROFESSIONAL not personal.

Best advice I ever received is " Lead by doing". you would never have people do anything that you wouldn't do yourself. It takes no skill to tell people what to do simply because of your position over them. you'll eventually generate respect and people will know you are truely behind with.
