Oh, don't let people that have no idea what they are talking about make you feel bad or scare you!
A few drinks will not hurt your baby. Im not saying go out and drink every night, but you will be fine!
I suggest reading "The Girlfriends Guide To Pregnancy". It was a great book that I read over and over during my pregnancy. It's humorous yet tells you alot of things that your Dr. doesn't tell you!

Occassional drinks do NOT harm the baby... Occassional means ONE 12 ounce beer, glass of wine or champagne, or one shot in a mixed drink, and only a few times throughout your pregnancy. If you knew you were pregnant, I am not sure why you still enjoyed a "few" drinks for a special occassion...isn't your baby the most special occassion of all? Anyhow, I understand, being 17 weeks along myself, sometimes it is very hard to avoid wanting to drink, but remember that anything excessive can harm a baby- if you MUST have a drink, have only one and drink only on occassion. Try drinking virgin drinks, also- that way you can still be social, and yet not harm the baby.

Many people have a few drinks before they know they are pregnant and things turn out okay. However fetal alcohol syndrome is no joke and you should be counseled by your doctor about it.

Is there really a "special occasion" that is more special than the life of your unborn child? If you continue this behavior you are being cruelly selfish and possibly risking the life of your baby.

When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, so does her unborn baby. There is no known safe amount of alcohol to drink while pregnant and there also does not appear to be a safe time to drink during pregnancy either. Therefore, it is recommended that women abstain from drinking alcohol at any time during pregnancy. Women who are sexually active and do not use effective birth control should also refrain from drinking because they could become pregnant and not know for several weeks or more.

You don't have to go rushing off to the doctor...don't over react like a lot of people here seem to be. I am at a hospital as we speak and I just asked 2 doctors your question..they say that you should be fine but don't make a habit out of it..infact they say that most of the people who's babies develop fetal alchohal syndrome are addicts..and they drink during the pregancy all the time. Don't stress it just don't make it a habit. And if you feel for some reason that you have a drinking problem, please get help before you put the baby at risk.

Isn't no drinking one of the first things you learn about? The first the months are the most critical in your baby's development. The baby should be fine, but no more till the baby is born.

Yep! I think your a horrible, disgusting person if you drank while you KNEW you were pregnant. Your child could now be born with numerous problems because you couldn't pass on the drinks. Nice job, mom of the year award if you ask me! It's different when women, not knowing they are pregnant engage in wrongful behavior, but when you KNOW and simply don't care....it's plain out disgusting! You do not deserve to be a mother.
