There are more fine restaurants in Manhattan than in any other city in the world. When you arrive, ask any New Yorker, hotel employee, just about any local, and you'll be sure to get lots of valid recommendations.

P.S. You really should learn how to spell Manhattan.

The *best* in Manhattan? Kind of a loaded question that. And subject to significant debate depending on who you ask and what you're looking for. There are literally thousands of places to eat.

One of the most prestigious in the city is Tavern on the Green, located in Central Park at 67th St. There are pretty much always limos parked outside, and you're looking at spending at least $100-200 a head.

I'd also recommend checking out a Zagat's guide. They may be a little cliched, but they'll certainly get you where you want to go, even if they won't get you in the door. Zagat is a paid service, and you can find the books at any NYC bookstore.

This really is a loaded question. You did not mention what type of cuisine you prefer. Here is a list of my favorites and the type of cuisine.

Daniel (French)

Babbo (Italian)

Del Frisco's (Steakhouse)

Milos (Greek)

Felidia (Italian)

Jean Georges (French)

You can google the above to see their websites. Or go to www.menupages.com to look up the menus. Please do not go to Tavern on the Green. The food is nothing at all special. It is a tourist trap.

Bon appetit!

If you don't have reservations all the upscale ones are booked!
Try Jean Georges, Alain Ducasse, Daniel,Peter Lugars, Nobu, and Atlier..just to name a few, most have private dining rooms if you want a romantic meal
