Did Eric Clapton actually WRITE any good songs?

Or are all the songs he's famous for just cover versions (After Midnite, Cocaine were done by J.J. Cale, and he covered lots of Robert Johnson's tunes, etc.)

He wrote "Tears in Heaven" and all the instrumental work on the soundtrack of "Rush," which I think is his best album.

His song about his son is beautiful. the name of the song is Tears in Heaven. It came out about year after his son died.
