Different tests require different levels of the hormone "HCG" to be accurate. The best time to test is a day or two after you've missed a period. There ARE tests that can detect the hormone sooner, but keep in mind that miscarriages before a missed period are quite common. If I were you, I'd wait until you're period is expected and then take a test. I use the $1 tests from the dollar store. They work. Best wishes!

First Response claims it can tell you whether or not you are pregnant 5 days before your missed menstral period.
Traditionally, it has been advised to test one week after your missed menstral period for an accurate home urine test result.
And frankly, if I tested and found the test to show negative after the recommended week, I'd take the test again about 4 days later, just to be even more sure that I was indeed not pregnant.

They say 5 days for the earliest home tests, but they aren't nearly as accurate as ones taken later (check the labeling on a home pregnancy test box - it's all right there).

I found out way before I should have. Two weeks before my period was due my husband insisted I was pregnant and he was right!! They have tests you can take. First Responce Early Pregnancy test. I would also go to my OBGYN for a blood test. That'll tell you for sure. Good Luck.
