Depends on what you call a classic. I would suggest The Color Purple (Alice Walker) or Misery (Stephen King). Now I'm sure you've seen the movies. And if you haven't then you need too. But the books are different. Both are very good and will keep you hooked to the end. For your book report you can compare the difference between the book and the movie. Good luck.

But you want a classic right?

Try these -- classics, good read, and lots of material for a book report:

To Kill A Mockingbird
Catcher in the Rye
Of Mice & Men
The Outsiders or Rumble Fish
Lord of the Flies
Animal Farm

And a few brief tale anthologies - get a mixture of authors in a single publication. Chicken Soup for the Soul Catherine Marshall's "Christy" and "Julia" Also consider to incorporate a few biographies of individuals which are awe inspiring that you just utterly admire your self or studies of daily individuals that experience completed uncommon matters.

Try "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The lines are very poetic and romantic. I've read this one several times.

It really depends on your reading level, and your age.

I liked The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.
