A fetal heartbeat is a faint fluttery thing that is often hard to hear with a stethoscope. What you are proably feeling are uterine souffles, the pulse which is running through the uterine circulation to the placenta. When you lay down, you are also resting the weight of your uterus onto your aorta and vena cava, big, huge blood vessels that run the length of your abdomen. You are likely to be feeling your own pulse if you are laying on your back.

You can't feel the heartbeat. It could be the baby having hiccups. It is a rhythmic feeling that feels like it could be the heart, but is much too slow. It's a really cool feeling!!

It could also be your own blood flow. If you are laying in such a way (eg on your back) that is partially blocking blood flow, then you will feel the pulse (like when you find your pulse on your neck or your wrist) and it could be in the area of the baby.

It is not possible to feel your baby's heartbeat. It's either your heartbeat or it's in your head. Physically, the baby is only connected with you through the cord, you can't pass heartbeat through that. There is this amnio fluid surrounding the baby, so the heartbeat is absorbed by all that water. There is no way you can pick it up with your body, only through a dobbler.

I think that is probably your heartbeat... i was very surprised to find out that I could feel mine in my abdomen for my entire pregnancy, especially when I laid down. I would say hold your finger on your pulse point (wrist, neck) and then feel the "babys" with the other hand. You might just be surprised to find out that it is yours...

Are you sure it's the heart beat? My daughter had the hiccups all the time, just little constant thud or twitch. I have never known anyone who could feel the heart beat, but well, pregnancy is new and changing all the time!

i felt axactly what your talking about when i was pregnant. It feels like a heartbeat deep in your body right?
well i asked my doctor and she said that its actually the baby lying on one of your major arterys, the beat your feeling is actually your own. its kinda like when you hit your thumb or big toe really hard and you feel a pulse in it.

Are you sure it's not your heartbeat? I never felt that. It would be neat, though.
