Pete Doherty is battling a terrible illness (drug addiction) and every day he doesn't use is a bonus, but I feel as if all everyone is doing is waiting for him to relapse. I think he's doing really great and I wish him every success - anyone with me on that?

I wish anyone all the best, who gets away from that awful stuff, but my experiences here with people I know (sniffers), their characters have changed and they have become devious. A few of them have tried withdrawal at a clinic, but I do not think I know one, who has not relapsed.
Koks is an "in drug" unfortunately and it is getting cheaper all the time, cos' more and more take it. A very big modern society problem, from which we shall here alot about in the years to come!

i hope he gets clean etc but get real
he is a no-hoper that will continue to accept 'help' then go back to his old ways because he knows the more crap he pumps into his body the more exposure he and his band will get and the money will roll in and he can spend it on crack and herion. i have no sympathy for anyone who willingly puts sh*t into their body. when will everyone realise the enevitable? in a few years he will be dead of an overdose. if he was a regular drug addict he'd be locked in jail-where he should be-away from normal people!!!! my view of him as changed since i saw a photo of him injecting an unconcious fan with herion-wow what a great hero you have

There are many other people battling various addictions without the amount of support or money he can claim.... and he doesn't appreciate it ... I have little sympathy although I would be impressed if he did turn his life around and hopefully do something good with it .... helping others

Yes i feel for the guy. He is a lost soul who has loads off issues and all the publicity just makes him worse but then he does go and ask for it. If he could get his life sorted and i do mean sorted he could be an inspiration for so many people so lets hope he can do.

drug addiction is NOT an illness.

drug addiction is weakness. every time you pick up a needle, pipe, whatever, you are making a CONSCIOUS DECISION to do that drug. then you blame addiction for making the decision, as if it would be impossible to NOT do it.

by labelling drug addiction an "illness," you are doing addicts a grave disservice. you make them feel like the problem is out of their control, because you're telling them they're not deciding to do drugs, they're sick, and have no control. drug addicts must be told that they have the POWER to cure themselves. they have to find the inner strength to make intelligent decisions, and not take the easy way out.

but to answer your question, yes, i do wish doherty the best, just like i do ALL drug addicts. i hope he finds the inner strength to cast off drugs. i hope he decides to do what's healthy, and what will ultimately improve his quality of life.

any one who beats addiction gets my vote you don.t see a baby in a pram and think straight away he or she his going to be a heroin addict when their older.the guys probably got a lot of deep issues in his head what takes him to these destructive drugs and company.i personally think the crack might get him first then the h for his come down.but like you say every day without it is a good day. fall back in love with life pete and not the drugs.

No. he's super, basically a extremely tousled individual. He extremely desires to stay as much as his musical expertise or all he would be remembered for is his arrests, heroin habit and dating with Kate Moss. observed him on Jonathan Ross final night, he's a superb adequate dude, yet regarded wasted to be basic.

I think that if he was 'serious' about what he is trying to do, then he'd behave seriously and not put himself at risk.

If you were a footballer or athlete with an injury, then you'd take seriously the medical advice in order to recover.

By behaving in the way he is reported to behave, there is poor evidence of his seriousness [ putting yourself in places where you are likely to be tempted, smacks of insincerity, of 'risk taking'! ].

I hope that he 'recovers' and truly finds something useful and fulfilling in his life to occupy it. But, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it.

Sash.

It would be great to see him recover. I think when you say everyone is waiting for a relapse I hope you mean the press. Id like to think that no one would with such an awful illness on anyone.

Why waste sympathy on the freak. Anyone else with his level of convictions would be in prison now. What a role model to the poor kids who follow him, think of the damage his actions are doing to them.
