I have been friends with my best friend for almost 7 years, we go back and have been close forever it seems. Our old friend just got out of rehab, she had a little something with him before he left and last time he visited, but she is back with her old boyfriend, who is also his friend. Its very confusing, love triangle to the max. Anyways, she is always ditching me for our friend out of rehab or her boyfriend when they are in town. When I explain it she doesn't understand, she used to never do this. Now that we have gotten older (18), she thinks its okay. Should I just take the friendship less seriously?

A lot of times as we get older we grow further apart from some friends. Not to say she cares less about you but she's doing her own thing and you should do yours too. I wouldn't sit around waiting to hear from her I'd just do whatever you want to do. If you want to call her do it, if she says she's busy no big deal just do something else. Right now it just seems she's in her own little world. Maybe as time goes by she'll realize what a good friend she has in you. ;o) Good luck to you

This is never an easy situation. I've been ditched numerous times by friends for their significant others. In the beginning I was always there, ready to be friends again, when they were single again. The more it happened over the years I found myself pulling away from people. It takes more for me to get emotionally attached now, because I'm so used to people walking away.

Be guarded with your feelings and stand up for what you believe in... but be there for your friend. She'll come around eventually.

Not so much as less serious, more so that she has grown somewhat apart from you and is more of a life outside of you which is what you should be doing as well? I mean I'm sure there is nothing wrong with you, but instead of dwelling on if your best friend still notices that you are around. You should always be there no matter what, but just like in relationships (boyfriend, girlfriend) there is always that period of alone time from eachother, you know.

She wants to go out with BOYS and experience what BOYS have to offer. Its the BOYS that is the problem. Girls get together to have fun and talk about BOYS, and a few other things. She's just your "long time" friend but likes BOYS also - and she knows those 2 BOYS (there will be other BOYS, later). Anything "stand-out" to you in the above?

If she is so should you. It sounds to me like she's on a path to a very destructive lifestyle and you shouldn't feel like you need to be a part of that. You can still be friends with her, but maybe it's time for you to start branching out and creating new friendships.

I don't think you should take the friendship less seriously i just think you have to realize people grow up and have different priorities and maybe you should find some male companionship to keep you occupied.

Tell her that you really are getting hurt by her ditching you all the time and that you want her to spend some time with you!! If that doesn't work, get a boyfriend, sweets!!! Its that simple!
