I had a serious verices bleed in 1998 , the emt said they had lost me for over 8 minutes, when they took me out of the ambulance I started to breathe again. the doctor said it happened again in the emergency room for a shorter time. I had lost9 units of blood in 2 minutes time. alls I remember is being given my last rites by a preist.

When a person stops breathing and has no pulse, the person is considered clinically dead. It may be possible to revive the person at that point. If the person cannot be revived, a medical professional will pronounce the person. Then nothing more can be done.

Clinically, you were alive but unstable. The current standard for death is brain death which is defined as the complete and irreversible cessation of brain activity. You did not meet the definition of death and were not dead

I would call it not dead as EMT's and the Er were reving you they were still getting oxygen to your brain and were manually pumping your heart with CPR.

If you went down the tunnel of light - then I'd say your spirit left your body (offically dead).

If not then I guess you just came close.

yea i would call it dead. because ussally you would be brain dead after 8 mins.you should be lucky to be alive. god was with you that day.
