I am 11 weeks pregnant and my babies father and i are just friends , but when i talk to him he is eating a lot and feeling sick , and he is wanting sex. It made me laugh , first off we are only friends and we live an hour away from eachother and i have never heard of a man getting the pregnancy symptoms for his wife/partner. Has this happened to anyone else ? He says he is having sympathy symptoms !

My husband had sympathy symptoms. He had an upset stomach all the time when I had morning sickness and was tired like I was all the time. He was a nervous wreck throughout the whole pregnancy. My doctor said that lots of men have sympathy symptoms, and many gain more weight than their wives during the pregnancy.

I think if you're having a baby together you're a little more than just friends, and because of that closeness he is feeling your pain! It's not unusual to feel what someone else feels when you are close to that person. My father and I were always close and he had cancer but up to the very end, he never complained of pain, but I felt every bit of it. My mother also told me that when she was pregnant with me, my father stayed nauseated a lot and gained weight too so I guess anything's possible.

My husband did, and he even gained 30 lbs, while I only gained 6 lbs the whole pregnancy. He was sick, had cravings, mood swings, and (not to degrade him) he would get weepy or upset at the dumbest things. I asked our doctor about it, thinking something was wrong, and she said it's actually perfectly normal in couples. He wanted the baby so bad, and was feeling for what I was going though, so his mind gave him the same b/c they feel guilty. I suppose it could be the same, even though you're only friends.

I think my husband had sympathy symptoms, too! But only with cravings! Throughout my pregnancy he would eat along with me, and actually ended up gaining more actual fat than I did (minus placenta, baby, extra water), and has had even more trouble than me shedding the pounds postpartum!

Good luck with your pregnancy and congrats!

My cousin's husband had this terrible tooth ache & went to the dentist, after telling the dentist his problem, the first thing he was asked was if his wife was pregnant? And she was about 3 months. The dentist told him A LOT of men have toothaches while their spouse/significant other is pregnant. As far as the other things you mentioned, I don't know about.

My dad did this when my mom was pregnant with me. It's not uncommon.
