I understand that people all over the world have no medical care, no food and no homes. I understand that there are acts of nature that destroy their land. I understand they need help, because they don't have the financial resources to help themselves. What about our own country? Why can't all these TV personalities their own country FIRST? We have kids here that need adopted. We have our own poor and starving. We have our own natural disasters. Can't we take care of our own problems first and worry about everyone elses second?

Because those people could vote. Then they would remember what it's like to be poor and wonder how they could change society and government so that it serves the people instead of the upper echelon of wealth. Instead, we see to it that they cannot get a job without a house, can't pay taxes without a job and can't vote without paying taxes. This is compounded with efforts to make them turn to crime, as to further invalidate them with felon status. At this point they can be forced to do whatever we tell them to as beings of disposable status. The reason we even bother to go overseas to feed the hungry overseas is all a measure of Public Relations. Under the visage of humanity, our own voting populace is placated by the feel good images of little fly infested somalian AIDS babies being saved. They rest easier at night pretending that since they gave a dollar to Tammy Fay 5 years ago, they can spit on the vietnam war vet in front of the gas station. The government supports this wholeheartedly, as the people fed in international programs are still not US citizens, and therefore as elevated in status that they may become, they still won't be able to vote and change the system of our own self-serving government. Furthermore, the efforts made to feed such people are sparse at best, so it's not very costly. All one has to do is take 5,000 photos of the same 40 starving somalians and claim that we just fed 2 million. That way we only need to feed the bare minimum, and milk that humanitarian PR for all its worth. This is the exact opposite of the miracle where Jesus split two loaves of bread and fed the thousand, mind you.

Well... they do help out plenty of people here. Plus, The US has plenty of resources for homeless and starving people to get their lives back on track. People do it every day.
THe people in these other countries have it far worse than any homeless, starving person here. In most situations, they don't have a way out, or a way to make things better. These are people who would never have anything if it weren't for the kindness of certain celebrities.

They need a lot of prayer and ways to show them that we care. For starters, sending a check to "Feed the Children" is a good solution. Also, at Coinstar (where you put all your loose change in) you can make donations to Feed the Children or other organizations dealing with the homeless.

usually the poorest conditions in the US are nothing compared to the conditions elsewhere. I have never seen a homless person who is as bone skinny and inches away from death like the kids in refugee camps who were forced out of their homes, sold into slavery , but not before watching their mother get gang raped and their father dismembered by a rich dictator.

Let them eat cake... or tweenkies... or froot loops... let them stand on freeway on ramps and hold up signs begging for money to buy beer.... why should we be concerned for them... look at all the suffering "over there"... let them violate the child labor laws and get a job mowing lawns...no wait.... we need to keep those jobs for the ill-eagles... just give them free needles and they will eventualy die out... don't worry too much about it...
