Be genuine, kind, sincere, and honest. What is your fear will happen if you are blunt and direct? A soft clear "no" is less hurtful than stringing her along with an unclear "maybe".

Be kind and direct... if one is detached emotionally from the girl.... she will "get it" and the "hurt" is on her and her responsibility.
