Hi,Iwould say the max weight you can lift in a working enviroment will be 32kilos,as this is the maximum you are allowed to check into a suitcase at any british airport and is in place to stop repetative injury to baggage handlers.Hope this answers your question.

People are saying a certain amount but im pretty sure it depends what level your lifting at if you know what i mean, if your lifting something off a van at chest height you are allowed more than lifting something from the floor , im sure im right about this.

Depends on what state. Most it's 50 pounds, some it's 40.

Yopu sound like you work for qa union and want to challenge your employer. Each employer and job classification can state what they feel is neccesary and post it in the job description.
