The Tube is part of the London Underground network. They are trains (strictly speaking, they are light rail).
They are called "Tubes" because of the type of tunnel construction. If you look as a train enters a station, it is a reasonably close fit to the tunnel.
But to confuse you, the "Oxford Tube" is the brandname of a high-frequency, 24/7, coach service between Oxford and London, operated by Stagecoach Oxford.
