Did it hurt? Also, are there any side effects and one more thing, do they go through your stomach? If so, will I have a scar on my stomach, like people do when they have a c section?

I am sorry, but I have one more question, I gained a little weight from being on the birth control shot. If I get my tubes tied, will I lose the weight quick?

They make a teeny incision in your belly button, and one just below your pubic hairline.

The operation site itself never hurt. The only pain I experienced was a result of the air that they pump into the body to allow easier access to the tubes; it migrated to my shoulders and was painful for a few hours.

Side effects--my periods got heavier.

I had my tubes tied, it is a small scar at the lower part of my stomach, and it did not hurt much. They also have a procedure where they do not have to go through the stomach, and it leaves no scar at all. There are no known side effect. If they go through the stomach, the scar is not a big one like a c-section, it is very small and most disappear to a very small line, in time.

I had a TL about 4 years ago. They usually make a tiny incision in your belly button. I do have a scar about 1/8" long, but you can't see it. It is inside by belly button. It hurt afterwards, I had general anesthesia during the procedure. I stayed in bed for one day then got up the next and just took it easy. It's not too bad.

You should be able to lose your weight if you exercise and eat right. The TL will not change your ability to lose weight.

I got my tubes tied after my fourth child. I was practically painless. The only incision i had was a small one inside my belly button. Can't even see the scar now. So if you are really sure this is what you want to do, i say go for it. It was the best decision i ever made. Never regretted it for a minute. Was back on my that evening cooking supper. So dont worry.

Yes an yes it does hurt but it's one thing you should think about if you have women troubles or you don't want any more kids. I did it because i was haven so many women troubles an did not need any more kids have two kids an not needing any more. They go through your belly button or the other way which ever you think you would like an the doctor thinks is easy for you they do it. It ok it's not all that bad. Jamie.

I was sore from having it done right after the c-section. No there are no scars from it for me. The only die affect that I did have was weight gain. Ask the doctor who may be doing this for you if he/she has a video on the procedure. That helped me so much when my doctor showed me a video that detailed the entire procedure and the after affects. It really is no big deal to have it done in my oppinion. Talk more with your Doctor.

i didnt have this done but my mom did. She said it didnt hurt to bad she went to the hospital in the morning and then was home by the afternoon. She spent the rest of the day in bed and the next mornign felt fine. The scar is very minimal. They used the scar she has from previous c sections.

i've heard that they can go through a tiny hole under your belly button with a microscope or something like that...i think it actually starts with an L....cant remember the name....i had a hysterectomy at 32 and they took out my uterus through my vagina....and it wasn't bad at all, i was terrified to have it done, but it turned out great....so i'm sure that getting your tubes tied, most likely would be easy.

YES, IN 2001. VERY MINIMAL PAIN IN MY CASE. MINE WAS DONE AS OUT-PATIENT SURGERY (THERE IN THE MORNING, LEAVE IN THE AFTERNOON). TINY INCISION IN THE BELLY BUTTON AND SMALL (LESS THAN 1") INCISION AT TOP OF PUBIC HAIR LINE. CAN'T SEE IT NOW THOUGH.

NOTHING TO IT. AS FAR AS THE WEIGHT GAIN/LOSS ISSUE.....I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THAT.

I DO KNOW THAT I WAS NURSING MY BABY (A COUPLE OF MONTHS OLD) WHEN I HAD MINE DONE, AND I WAS TOLD THAT OTHER THAN THROWING OUT MY MILK FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS -BECAUSE OF THE MEDICATION IN MY SYSTEM FROM BEING PUT TO SLEEP- THAT IT WOULDN'T INTERFERE WITH MY NURSING. WRONG!!! I DRIED COMPLETELY UP WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THAT REALLY, REALLY BOTHERED ME.
