that it would somewhat discourage the ignorant populace here in 'POLITICS?? I'm not one to complain without offering a solution to a problem. And, understanding the effects of advertising, I think it would somewhat deflate the hell-bent fools on here. Certainly not permanent, but it's a start. Can you be positive enough to even try?

shojo - I still like your points, but one thing to consider is.. . The fact that many intelligent people have given up on Y/A. Because of the permitted idiocy. I understand their view. Some of us came here for stimulating debate. And the lack thereof can be directly attributed to the disgust with foolishness.

tellitlik - -Noooo. The ignorant wouldn't be present. And the guidelines for reporting and punishing would be FAIR. Not just random reporting and complete lack of assessing the report.

I have another suggestion.. . Everyone should take the time to find out HOW advertising affects your brain and thought process. Now that is a stimulating enlightenment. You gotta ask yourself something, why do major corporations spend billions each, yes some spend billions each year on advertising. Write down your answer to that question and THEN read a good book or two on the subject. Your answer will then be much different, than you originally thought.

Certainly a thought worth pursuing, but since ignorance is so widespread, I wouldn't count on it working. Besides, the intelligent questions would be spread out with all the unintelligent questions popping up in between... Still, though...

That reminds me... It's been a long time since I've stirred the pot over at the Vegan section and asked for a steakhouse recommendation. Just kidding, but I have noticed that with an increase in the number of intelligent questions comes a corresponding decrease in the level of crap (and number of spelling errors).

I've been trying harder lately, and it's pretty embarrassing when you read some of the cheap-shot questions and answers posted by members of your own team.

the problem is that some of these people post ignorant and flamboyant responses because they do not understand the question nor are they able to grasp the depth of the issues at hand. that being said, the level of the question will have no effect on their answer. then there are those who are purposefully giving aggravating responses.. again, the level of the question would have no effect on their answer because in this case they are after the thrill of angering you and the format to achieving that matters little

Unfortunately, fools never know when to quit. As long as there have been people, there have been fools. They're part of humanity, and should be accepted as such. I feel that the truly intelligent should just ignore their questions, and answer only other intelligent questions.

Don't expect discussions on politics to always have intelligent answers. With all of the negativeness and attacking that goes on lately in politics, you are bound to see it here as well.

No way, because the "ignorant" would report the question, and it would be removed!
