BZP has been around for a long time, actually. And though it's legal in lots of places, it's not legal EVERYWHERE... America and Australia have banned it, for example.

As far as drugs go, it's not a particularly dangerous one, but neither is it without risks. There has been only one reported death linked to BZP, and that death may have been caused by excessive water intake instead of the drug directly (a dry mouth is a common side effect).

It tends to have effects similar to many stimulants: feelings of euphoria, alertness, some sensory enhancement, and some people experience mild hallucinations as well. These are typically accompanied by a rapid heart rate, dilated pupils, nausea and decreased appetite, and an inability to remain still. About two hours later you start coming down and will experience symptoms similar to a hangover, usually with noticable fatigue and a headache (probably why almost nobody overdoses on this stuff - they fall asleep instead). It will take about 24 hours before everything is washed out of your system, but most of the effects will be gone after 6.

Though deaths are few, there have been a number of complications, up to and including life-threatening toxicity and drug-related seizures. You'll live, but it won't be fun for a while. These are not exactly common occurrances, but if you are going to take this drug, you should do so well-advised of the possible risks, I think.

Because of the non-regulated nature of the drugs manufacture, you may also be putting yourself at a substantial risk of impurities, either from the source or intermediates. There is, unfortunately, little way to mediate this risk other than to obtain the drug from a source you can trust.

Hope that helps!
