I'm really hoping someone can help me with this.

Several days ago my computer - a P4 Intel chip PC running Windows XP Service Pack 2 - crashed for no obvious reason. I couldn't CTRL-ALT-DEL so I switched it off centrally and restarted.

Ever since then I'm having a very strange problem. My internet connection IS working, but whenever I visit any pages that are served by adclick or google adsense then I get the Network Connections dialogue box pop up (all other stuff on the page except for the advert bit load normally). If I click cancel I can continue browsing without any problems except that the ads are not visible.

However, as the network connections dialogue box pops up EVERY time I click on Yahoo 360, or Cnet or almost anywhere on the web I get this. There are error messages in the ad windows saying that the server at adclick.net could not be found).

I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.7. Can anyone please help?

Note:

I have tried all the basic stuff I can think of. The problem occurs in Firefox 1.5.0.7.

I have tried accessing the same sites from IE6 and IE7 with no problem.

I have also tried disabling my firewall (no effect).

I've rescanned my system for viruses and malware (none found with Zone Alarm).

I've disabled ALL my firefox extensions (no effect).

I've tried switching my cable modem off and on both on the modem and at the mains switch (though it's clearly not a cable modem problem).

I've tried searching around on Google and have found no useful information.

I'm completely out of ideas...

I controlled to get this to artwork as quickly as, despite the fact that if it grew to become right into a entire nightmare, *SO* no longer worth it. You gotta get your pc's on the spot adaptor to forward to your laptops ethernet port, then you definitely've lots of of firewall settings to alter on your pc, and specific on your on the spot router too. additionally it demands a handbook setup of your xbox IP and so on. i ought to do it lower back despite the fact that if it takes a -lot- of fannying around, or maybe then you definitely are nevertheless working with an impure on the spot connection which will merely be crappy for x-stay. superb selection: get a under pressure connection at present from modem/router to xbox 2nd superb selection: get an xbox on the spot adaptor crap selection: cyber web connection sharing by way of way of your pc
