Philosophical without foundation Heaven and Hell- concepts?

Actually the concept of heaven and hell IS based on philosophy/theology (which if you look at the true definition of both, they CAN be interchangable depending on the context).

I believe the concepts of heaven and hell evolve as cultures do.
For example, the fork (common food utensil) was invented in Italy around 1100 ad (if I remember correctly). It was IMMEDIATELY banned from use, because it looked too much like a devil's pitchfork, and hence, replicated the devil's own devise of "torture".

So the next time you pick up a fork to eat with, think about your question again.

Heaven and hell are not concepts. They are images.

We have two ways of representing the things: through imagens (that come from our five senses) and through ideas (or concepts) (that are created by our capacity of undestanding).

In the first, we are receptive; in the other, active.

So, it's not the case of such things having foundations or not. The question is not proper... What has to have philosophical foundations are conceptual systems; not images created by the culture.

And last, they're religious images. So they don't need to have such requirements; but only the belief.

Sorry for the mistakes.....................!!

No. there is the philosophical concepts about Heaven and Hell. Allah will send the bad deeds people to hell and good deeds people to heaven at the day of Last Judgement. According to Holy Quran, He is the Owner and Master of all entire universe and the Day of the Last Judgement too. You can get more details from http://www.al-islam.org and http://www.sistani.org

Socrates may have written about what he was doing but we cannot know from his writings since they did not survive for us to read. We have to rely on Plato mainly, and a few others. But that version by Plato is what we have to assume is the whole foundation of western philosophy. We cannot verify the existence or absence of his thinking about midwifery (his mother was a midwife) since we only have the version Plato chose to pass on. See any similarities with the "concepts" you call Heaven and Hell?

I think human beings would like to believe that life is fair. Remember when you were young, and someone else got a bigger piece of pie, or got away with something, you would complain, "that's not fair!"

When you look around you, it's obvious that some people get more than their "fair share." Others suffer undeserved poverty, disease, misfortune, etc. So, there came about the notion of an afterlife where "justice" will be done. It just appeals to people's sense of fairness, that it will all "even out" somehow in the end.

Have you tried reading Dante's Inferno or the Divine Comedy? Dante's Inferno is really very interesting. The Divine Comedy is made up of three parts, corresponding with Dante’s three journeys: Inferno, or “Hell”; Purgatorio, or “Purgatory”; and Paradiso, or “Paradise.” Each part consists of a prologue and approximately 33 cantos. Since the narrative poem is in an exalted form with a hero as its subject, it is an epic poem.

Dante and Virgil enter the wide gates of Hell and descend through the nine circles of Hell. In each circle they see sinners being punished for their sins on earth; Dante sees the torture as Divine justice.
