In June i'll be moving to Key West because of my (then)husbands military orders..but i have never been there...and was wondering what all is down there

KW isn't really for kids. Jobs can be hard to find. There are many opportunities on Sigsbee Navy Base working for low pay and NO benefits. You can find a job in town , but it's mainly in the service industry.
There are hurricanes you'll never see because you will evacuate everytime the wind blows. There is diving, that isn't as nice as the middle or upper keys. There is the bar scene that gets old quickly. KW is basically a small town with limited offerings in stores and resturants, but with a high $ because of tourists. make friends to do dinner and socialize with. Develop a hobby you and hubby can enjoy like diving. Enjoy that you're military because civilians have to work MANY hours to afford a small place and they don;t get to really enjoy the offerings. Buy the book, QUIT YOUR JOB AND MOVE TO KEY WEST. It's pretty accurate in it's descriptions. Enjoy paradise!

I LOVE Key West but I don't know that I'd want to live there. I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale and we'd drive down quite often. Anyway, it is always a good time. The people are awesome. It is a bit overpriced because it is so touristy. I don't know what the heck you'd do for work there besides tend bar or waitress somewhere. Maybe you might want to consider moving up to one of the upper islands and looking for a house. Key West is only like a mile wide and 3 miles long. It is a great place to visit but like I said....living there??? I don't think so.

ok key west is basically the same as Key north, south and east but the good thing about Key west is that at this place is the key to all lifes problems in the west..... You follow me... you know what I mean. The Answer is there as long as you are in the west..... Its so simple but yet so hard.

Key West is very laid back...small community. Huge Jimmy Buffet fans. If u like to go out and party there is duval st. full of bars and dance clubs. everyone is friendly. but it's very touristy from all the crusie ships etc. but i love it, i dont' live there but i go there all the time! have fun

I was there once when i was 8 and it was very beautiful. you can go snorkling or fishing. walks on the beach. there is alot of cool water life to explore, different kinds of fish and sea shells. Its been so long that I dont know what kind of things they have there other than that.. sorry.. im sure you will love it though.

Gays, artists, writers, gays, and more gays. Artsy fartsy places and expensive everything. Husband can live on base you can live up one key Cudjo and have a better time unless you like artsy fartsy.
