The IMAX at the Houston Museum of Natural Science has a nice documentary about climbing Mount Kilamanjaro (with tips regarding tour guides).

Well I know it's not in Kenya, so I might have saved you a lot of time with that one already. It's in Tanzania, buddy. It was originally, during colonialism, part of what became "Kenya," but then the British Royal in charge of the Colony gave Kiliminjaro away so that their cousin could have one of the two highest peaks in Africa (the second being Mt. Kenya, which IS in Kenya!). So there's some trivia you can discuss with your shirpas.
As far as finding a good company goes, I wouldn't trust the internet. There are lots of scam artists over there that sell Safari packages and climing packages and the like and then just never show up to meet you or give you a terrible time. Find some resources for hikers / climbers in your local sports shop or something.

If you want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, contact people in Tanzania!!! There are several scams like people from countries outside tanzania who promise that you will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and they promise packages that fall short of your expectations!! No one should tell you about Kilimanjaro If the person is not from TANZANIA, period!!

Go to this website:

www.tanzaniatouristboard.com

(this is a government website. it provides lists of registered companies, always make sure the company you buy a package from is registered with the Government authority) I would suggest, Bobby Tours, Kearsley, Takims and Leopards Safari companies if you want to go on safaris. I have used them before to go with my family - (trust me am a Tanzanian)

Another website is:

www.discovertanzania.org

- It provides you with basic information on places and areas that you can visit.

Make good use of the Tanzania Tourist Board Website- it will provide you with information on hotels and Lodging, tour operators with their specialities and contact information, you will be in safe hands the moment you touch down at any airport in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro International Airport and Dar es Salaam international airport)
