The first you have to do in Algebra is group like variables. Example, if you had 2X + 5 - X = 17 you would group 2X and -X and you would get the new equation: X + 5 = 17, which would give you X = 12.
Here, there are none to group, so here goes.
You need to isolate the X on one side.
So seeing as you have 7X - 5, to get rid of -5, you need +5, so you would re-write it like this
7X - 5 + 5 = 72 + 5
(What you do one side YOU MUST do to the other.)
So now you work that part out.
7X = 77
Now you have the X isolated, so you "Solve for X"
7X / 7 = 77 / 7
X = 11
Hope that helps, Good Luck!

7x-10 = 10x -15 Subtract 7x to left side -10 = 3x - 5 Add 15 5 = 3x Divide by 3 5/3 or 1 2/3

To get rid of the -5, you have to add 5, but you have to add it to each side, so 7x-5+5= 72+5 which gives you 7x=77. Now to get just x on the left side, you have to divide both sides by 7 because it is the common denominator, so 7x divided by 7 = 77 divided by 7, or x=11

You just have to reverse it.
72 - 5 becomes 72 + 5 = 77
77 / 7 = 11
x = 11
