I dislike them when the gore is the ONLY thing that's there...Strategic gore is OK.
Personally, I like suspense much better...it is more effective but sadly more rare in modern horror movies. A good suspenseful movie will scare anyone much more deeply than a stupid slasher flick.

I like some scary movies, but mostly suspensful ones, not gory ones. I'm with you on this one. One of my favorite 'horror' films is the original wicker man. That film was really well done. Don't bother with the new one.

I don't mind gory movies, but I don't watch alot of them. I don't watch blood and guts for the sake of watching blood and guts. Blood and guts has to have a good story line. If you like gore, than watch footage of the holocaust. I never understood my friends that liked to watch gore. Did they secretly have a sadistic side to them? Watching entrals and blood spurting isnt "cool". It's just boring and stupid.
