If the phone is unlocked AND your sim is unlocked AND if the network you use is supported on the phone. My sim card and phone are registered together so I cannot just put my sim into another phone i have to tell O2 so they can unlock the sim. There are also different bandwidths for the different companies. We found out recently that a second hand phone we had bought, although a tri-band phone originally, (supports most/all networks) was only a bi-band phone because it was broken. We have a "mobile phone hospital" in town and the chap in there was great at testing all networks for us and this is the conclusion we came to.
My advice is to try and find someone like that who will not charge unless they can fix it. If the conclusion is that it is broken then you should have the right to a new 2nd hand phone or your money back. THIS DEPENDS ON THE TERMS OF THE SALE!
Good Luck.

Any sim card should work on any phone that uses sim cards however the phone has to be unlocked by the phone company it was purchased from or had service orginally from.

Sim cards don't work on any phone...you have to have the right company and the right type of phone for it to work. and even if the card works...the phone may be locked which means you have to pay lots of money for it to work the right way.

there are no specific sim cards for specific phones. so you might want to check both your phone and sim card with the relevant companies..
