for overweight people it is only about 20-25 pounds for average it is around 25-35 and underweight people it is just a bit more than that but the average weight gain should be fine for underweight also, but everyone is different I think I am qualified average weight I weighed 104 before I got pregnant with my second and I am in the 5 month right now but have only gained 4 Ibs, which is under what you are suppose to cause at 5 months it is good to have gained between 10 and 15 Ibs, but I am not worried cause my doctor really hasn't said anything bad, they are just glad if I do gain a pound withing the four weeks since I rarely do it.

If your beginning weight is normal for your height & frame... between 25 - 35 lbs. If you're on the heavy side, your doctor will most likely recommend that you keep your weight gain on the lower side (probably less than 20 lbs.) so that you don't face other complications. Of course, don't sacrifice nutrition for keeping a figure. You can still have lower weight gain... but as long as you eat enought fruits, veggies, and grains... you can get the proper nutrients.
I'm thin by nature... when I started my pregnancy, I was 129 lbs. and put on 31.5 lbs. to the day I delivered. I lost all the weight plus an add'l 4 lbs. within 5 weeks (I nursed my child). I'm now pregnant again and have put on 21 lbs. so far (27 weeks). I'm sure I'll put a few more on... and will shed it again very quickly. Don't pressure yourself by counting calories... and nurse your baby when he/she arrives. It's the best way to get your body back into shape.

it does depend on alot of factors.if you are overweight or underweight before pregnancy, your body type and just plain old genetics.women usually gain more weight with their first pregnancy cause they want to hurry up and look pregnant or because they dont realize that theyre going to have to lose the weight eventually.i gained 70 pounds in my first pregnancy and had an 8 lb 8 oz baby.i only gained 20 pounds with my second an he was 7lbs 5 oz.i am now 6 mon preg and havent gained a pound but i was about 20 lbs overweight to begin with so my doc says its nothing to worry about yet

This depends on your weight and the babies weight. With each of my pregnancies I gained 25 pounds. But, that is not the same for every person.

Depends if you are under weight or over weight. But the average is between 20-30 pounds.

Doctors want you to gain between 20 and 25 pounds, but up to 40 is acceptable. Over that and they frown upon that.

i gained 45 in total. i'm very tall, though, so my doctor felt that that amount was totally acceptable. i'm in shape, not overweight at all, so this was OK...
